Before the session
Preparing for your tattoo session
A little preparation can make a big difference. My sessions are meant to be a comfortable, creative experience, so the better you feel when you arrive, the easier it is for both of us to enjoy the process.
Come well rested
Try to get a good night's sleep before your appointment. A rested body usually handles a long tattoo session much better, and you'll have more energy to enjoy the experience.
Stay hydrated and eat well
Drink plenty of water before your session and keep yourself hydrated throughout the day.
Please don't come on an empty stomach. Have a proper meal before your appointment so you have enough energy for the session.
Lunch and snacks are on me, but you're always welcome to bring something you particularly like or prefer.
Prepare your skin
Healthy, calm and moisturised skin is the best starting point for a tattoo. Keep the area moisturised in the days before your appointment, but avoid applying heavy creams right before the session.
Please try to avoid scratches, cuts, sunburn and bruises on the area we're going to tattoo.
Please don't shave the area yourself. If the placement is very hairy, you can carefully trim the hair with a trimmer the day before. I'll take care of the rest in the studio and prepare the skin properly before we start.
Make yourself comfortable
Long sessions can take several hours, so comfort matters. Feel free to bring warm socks, home slippers, a hoodie, or anything else that makes you feel cozy.
You can also bring headphones, a book, your iPad, or anything else you enjoy using to relax and pass the time.
Keep the day calm
If possible, try not to schedule stressful things right before your appointment. Give yourself some time to arrive, breathe, and switch into a slower mode.
And most importantly: please come sober and free from alcohol or recreational drugs. They can affect your body's response to tattooing and make the session less safe and predictable.
Let go a little
I know that getting a tattoo, especially a large or meaningful one, can feel like a big change. It's completely normal to feel excited, nervous, or even a little anxious.
Try not to put too much pressure on yourself to control every detail before you arrive. You don't have to figure everything out alone.
Let me take care of the process. Trust that we'll make the right decisions together, step by step. Our next steps will happen at the meeting, where we can look at your body, the placement, the design and everything else in person.
You don't need to arrive with all the answers. Just arrive rested, hydrated, fed, comfortable, and ready to experience it.
